If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. When using an external display be sure to check the following: No video or no signal, image distortion, "snow," or flickering I would use this article to help troubleshoot the issue, named:Īpple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays If you can run on integrated graphics or something give the clean reinstalls a shot.It sounds like you are unable to get any video signal to your external monitor at all. This is a documented bug that seems to be software related. No trouble since.Įdit: just saw your edit- just want to float the possibility that your card might not be dead. After that I rebooted and switched back to HDMI from the GPU and it worked fine. The monitor worked fine that way so I uninstalled then reinstalled the Asus software and did a clean reinstall of the drivers. The only way I found to fix it was to switch the output to the mobo's DVI (for clarity, DVI from the GPU did not work) and use the CPU. I couldn't find a way to fix it by switching outputs on the graphics card or restarting either the computer or monitor. I instantly got the exact same out of range error.
Everything on the most recent drivers and what not.įor me the error started when I changed a setting on the proprietary Asus gpu software.
I'm running a Strix GTX 970 and moved from an old random low def monitor to a 1080p Asus monitor (connected with HDMI as well). This exact same thing happened to me the other day when I upgraded my monitor. I figure it's a defective card so I set up an RMA/instant refund with amazon and upgraded to a GTX970 FTW+ for $3 more.
Post relevant photos of build/parts here.Įdit: After putting the old GPU back in, everything seems to be working fine. I looked at previous support requests and tried reinstalling my drivers but nothing has seemed to work. It does not seem to be a heat issue as my CPU and GPU temperatures stay around 45C – 55C when playing games. Both my monitors have worked fine until now playing games at 1920x1080. For most of these games, I have tried playing in windowed mode and/or at lower resolutions but nothing has worked.
It has even had the crash on the desktop when I was watching a video in full screen. This error has occurred for Witcher 3, Dota 2, Dragon’s Dogma, and Half-Life 2. List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem. There is no way that I have found, to get past this error besides turning computer off and on again. It generally seems to happen when I load into the game, not on the main menu. This message and one that says “HDMI No Signal” have become a consistent issue when trying to play games. On Friday, when I loaded into a match of Dota 2, both my monitors went black and an error message that said something along the lines of “Out of range” popped up. I installed it on Monday and it was working great until Friday. I recently upgraded my GPU from a GTX 670 FTW to a GTX 970 FTW. My current specs are here and here’s a video of the crashes happening.ĭescribe your problem. My two monitors are: the ASUS VE247H (HDMI) and the Viewsonic VA2231WM-LED (DVI).
